Harp, piano, flute, bells, electronics, cassettes, telephones, wind, house, hometown, voices.

"1959" sounds out the relationship between recording and remembering, between the fixed time of the medium and the fluent time of memory. Different scenes and reflections gel in an in a “theatre of the past that is constituted by memory” (Gaston Bachelard). The recordings were taken the past six years and the first eight years of my life. The work is dedicated to the memory of my mother (born 1959).
Harp: Veronika Ehrensperger.

Premiered at Imatronic Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe (GRM Acousmonium). Performances: Cité de la Musique (Marseille, F 2017), Sonorities Festival (SARC, Belfast 2015), Musica Viva Festival (Lisboa, PT 2014), Helsinki Music Centre (Helsinki, FI, 2014), Musica Musiques & Recherches (Espace Senghor, Brussels, BE 2013), Diskurs Festival for Young Performing Arts (Giessen, DE, 2013).

"A stunning piece telling a story with recorded words and sounds, its fragmented structure drawing me into another remembered world." (Nathan Thomas, Fluid Radio)
